The Perfect Weather Window – How We Plan Your Helicopter Flight
Weather in the Alps is a fascinating natural phenomenon – and at the same time one of the most important factors for a successful helicopter flight. At FunFlights Helicopter-Tours, we cannot control the weather, but we can choose the right moment. This is where our daily work begins: with planning, experience and close communication with our guests.

Our goal is to select the best possible weather window for every flight – so you can experience the Swiss Alps from the air safely, calmly and with clear visibility.

Booking & Personal Support from the Start
Guests book their helicopter flight easily via the FunFlights.ch reservation system, selecting a preferred date and time. An automatic confirmation email is sent immediately after booking.

At the same time, our team contacts you personally. We clarify open questions, provide a detailed meeting point description and explain the next steps. This personal approach is important to us – because every helicopter flight is unique.

Weather Monitoring – Days in Advance
Several days before the scheduled flight, our Flight Operations team closely monitors weather developments across Switzerland, focusing on:
• cloud formation and visibility
• wind conditions at different altitudes
• approaching weather fronts or thunderstorm risks

If conditions are expected to deteriorate, we inform our guests early and transparently. Shortly before the flight date, you receive an updated weather briefing – so you always know what to expect.

Flexibility When the Weather Requires It
If forecasts for the booked day are unfavorable, we work together with our guests to find a suitable alternative – such as flying one day earlier or later. In most cases, flights can still take place as planned.

On the day of the flight, the pilot makes the final decision in close coordination with the operations team. Once conditions are confirmed as suitable, we inform guests of the exact meeting time – usually 15 minutes before departure to allow enough time for check-in, restrooms and the safety briefing.

Communication Until Arrival
Our communication goes beyond weather updates. We also assist guests with:
• public transport directions
• arrival by car and parking options
• last-minute organizational questions

This ensures a relaxed and well-prepared arrival at the helicopter base.

When the Weather Changes Suddenly – Safety First
Despite careful planning, alpine weather can change quickly. If conditions on the flight day are not safe, the pilot will responsibly delay or cancel the flight.

For our guests, this involves no risk at all:
In the event of a weather-related cancellation, we issue a voucher for the booked helicopter flight, which can be redeemed at a later date – flexibly and without time pressure.

Our priority is that you experience your helicopter flight under optimal conditions. That’s why all decisions are made in the interest of safety and quality. Many guests value this transparent and personal approach – it builds trust even before takeoff.

The Best Time of Day – Planned According to the Season
The ideal time of day depends strongly on the season.

In summer, we recommend morning flights. Warm afternoons often bring cloud build-up and thunderstorms over the mountains, while mornings typically offer calmer air and clearer views.

In winter, conditions are often better in the afternoon. Morning fog or low clouds over the lowlands usually dissipate during the day, revealing clear views of snow-covered peaks.

Our team is happy to advise you individually to ensure the best possible timing for your flight.

Our Philosophy: Planning Creates Experience
Direct and personal communication is the foundation of our service. It ensures that you receive all relevant information about weather, arrival and procedures in advance – and that your helicopter flight becomes a truly memorable experience.
